Willpower: The Energy That Moves Us – ElPropósito2 min de lectura
Where does the energy to reach what we want come from?

The end of the year is when I measure results and set new goals. It’s a chance to look back at the hopes I turned into goals and the results they produced. 2018 was a year of extreme challenges and tests in my life, and one quality was always there, in adversity and in happiness: willpower.
I’ve always liked the word willpower. I see it as a potential trigger that lives in both the mind and the heart and switches on instinctively whenever we need it, producing the energy that moves us and lets us act without thinking twice. That makes it one of the key factors in reaching our goals over the 365 days of a year.
In "On the Purpose of What We Do," I wrote about the importance of having powerful resources (values, for example) that help give meaning to our choices. Having a purpose means having a compass that shows the way. Passion and willpower are the steady energy that helps us find ways around the obstacles on that path.
Even in the hardest moments of the year, what keeps us motivated, focused and energized is passion for what we do and long for. So I invite you to reflect on the cycle of passion, purpose and goals before the year ends, and to set yourself new, tough and ambitious goals that carry within them all the energy needed to succeed.
How do you set goals that raise your motivation, help you sustain your willpower and lead you to perform better?
Happy New Year, and may 2019 be the best year of your life.
A big hug,
Rodrigo
P.S. Recommended book (free at the link): The Habit of Ferocity by Steven Kotler (one of my favorite authors). An excellent read to start 2019 with full energy
