The Essence of Presence – ElPropósito1 min de lectura

When being here and now means everything

Our perspective widens when we’re fully present in everything we do. Presence means focus, and paradoxical as it sounds, being present broadens our perspective. A good example of presence is an excellent, high-quality conversation.

What determines the quality of presence? The forced shift to virtual life has clearly put a great distance between us, with the physical barrier of a screen in the way. That has raised the need to make sure we’re truly present in the few or many conversations we have.

We can (apparently) gauge the quality of our presence better when we’re physically together. Yet we can also be present virtually when we genuinely show, and prove, the level of attention the other person needs (and that we need too).

Right now our relationships are being tested and need more attention. If we want to broaden our perspective on any subject, we need to train our attention, and that will undoubtedly show in the quality of the feedback we receive.

To keep doing business, build or lead teams, grow companies, form friendships and so much more, we’re called, more than ever, to focus our presence on the here and now, in what we do and what we long for.

Warm regards,

P.S. There’s no VELA this week. My website is being redesigned and, thank God, I’ve had the joy of spending time with exceptional people, to whom I’ve given all my attention and presence.
