How to Win the Day with REMO – ElPropósito2 min de lectura
I like to start each day knowing I’ll end it satisfied and that everything I did had a purpose. Four habits keep me energized, at peace and focused

REMO is an acronym built from habits I’ve practiced and refined for several years. In Spanish, remo means oar.
The order I follow every day, from the moment I get up until I start work, is R: Rezar (pray), E: Ejercitarme (exercise), M: Meditar (meditate) and O: Organizarme (organize).
Pray: I’m Catholic and I practice my faith. I pray the rosary in the mornings (John Paul II’s favorite prayer), using the Rosary Pro app. Whatever your religion, I believe starting the day by thanking the Creator for all our blessings is the first big step of all
Exercise: there are countless studies on the benefits of this habit. What I’d stress is choosing a sport that lets you enjoy yourself, disconnect and live a balanced life while you do it. I especially like swimming, running (now, not before) and cycling
Meditate: I first heard about and practiced meditation in college (2004). My literature professor taught us meditation and relaxation for about 10 minutes before each class, stressing the benefits for the mind. Years later, as a Harvard Business Review subscriber, I found countless related articles, and one struck me so strongly that it launched my daily morning practice of at least 10 to 20 minutes of meditation: Eight Weeks to a Better Brain (2011). I’ve used several apps, and today (thanks to an excellent recommendation) I use Insight Timer. The benefits for me include peace, clearing my mind to think clearly and reducing or eliminating anxiety, among many others
Organize: how I organize my day comes down to keeping a journal. I found two basic guides for it:
- Hit the Ground Writing
- What My Morning Journal Looks Like
Journaling has let me keep the connection between my yearly goals and the small steps I need to take every day. It’s where my hopes and my purpose come together.
Finally, the most special part of practicing my REMO is the feeling of navigating every day with a course and a purpose, full of energy, peace and serenity and, above all, the joy of reaching what I set out to do.
Is there something you practice every day that has become a habit? Thanks for sharing it with me.
A big hug,
Rodrigo Baccaro
