What Is the Most Important Day of the Week? – ElPropósito2 min de lectura

Three ingredients for the best days of our lives

I’ve always believed in rest, physical, mental and emotional, as a powerful way to recharge. Friday usually closes the week and opens the recovery time every one of us needs. Yet there was a stretch in my life when Fridays turned into an inner monologue along these lines: "Tomorrow’s Saturday, then Sunday, and then it’s Monday all over again." Ever been there?

How can we enjoy Monday as much as Friday, or any other day? I believe three ingredients can flavor any day of our lives. The first is passion. That deep feeling that rises when we do something truly fulfilling is what drives everything else. When we love what we do, work becomes a chance to connect with ourselves at a deep level and develop our full potential.

The second big ingredient is courage. One of the many lessons I took from Brené Brown’s Daring Greatly is the value of vulnerability and how closely it’s tied to courage. We tend to equate vulnerability with weakness, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Leaving our comfort zone, taking the next step, making a big decision or getting back on track all take a healthy dose of courage. Every decision makes us vulnerable, and in that same moment we’re being brave and building real strength.

The third ingredient is meaning. A great Mark Twain line sums it up: "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." An ordinary day becomes extraordinary when you know where you’re headed and why you want to get there. Meaning is the compass, the lighthouse, the GPS we all carry inside. Once the route is lit, a powerful flame catches on its own, and from then on everything in our life makes sense.

When we feel we’re heading the right way and we work with passion and courage, we’re aboard an unstoppable spaceship that lets us enjoy every second of life. A few questions to reflect on: if you worked with passion, courage and meaning, which day would be the best of your week? How much of those three ingredients is in your days right now? What would any day look like if you lived it with passion, courage and meaning? How do you find what you love, what gives your life meaning and what would give you the courage to go after everything you want?

Have a great week, all the best,
