What Is Life Waiting For? – ElPropósito3 min de lectura
Four big formulas for getting results

We can reach a point where everything seems already written and said, where nothing can change and the established rules and customs are all we’re supposed to follow. What makes someone, or a few people, different enough to reinvent things and find new ways forward in situations like that? If we could imagine life and time watching us, they would constantly be expecting four big things from us.
The first is that we ask the right question. By right, I mean simply asking it, however imperfect or clumsily phrased. Fear of asking, or just not asking, may be the main thing holding us back from solving the biggest challenges on our hands right now. The range of possible answers to any question is infinite, so we have to lose our fear and dare to ask, however trivial the question may seem. The next is the right moment: it’s never too late to start and never too late to finish. The best time to move forward in any race is right now. The race starts long before the starting flag drops, at the moment we ask the right question and get the answer we’d been waiting for. The race starts the day we decide to run it. So once we decide that the right moment to ask a question or make a decision is now, there’s a long stretch of road ahead.
Once we’re ready to ask a question at the right moment, the key is to ask the right person. Again, "right" hardly requires searching to the ends of the earth for the wisest person on the planet. Quite often the answers lie with the person sitting next to us, and the surprise usually comes with a "too bad you didn’t ask me sooner."
Finally, the right result. If we start from the idea that there’s no such thing as the perfect question, the perfect moment or the perfect person, then clearly the result will be the right one. The takeaway is that we often wait to come up with the best question to get the best result, and meanwhile time passes and things stay the same or get worse.
The happiest people on the planet keep strong bonds with others. The trust that surrounds happy people makes it possible to ask all kinds of questions and to chart a clearer course through the answers we find along the way. Since this post is about questions and answers: the best time to ask is now, the best person to ask is the one right next to us, and the best result will always be the one we get when we dare to ask the question we’ve been wanting to ask.
What’s the question you’re missing, the one you could ask right now?
