The Clarity of Vision – ElPropósito2 min de lectura

The result of aligning the foundations of the plan

By vision, I mean what we can imagine when we project ourselves into the future and see ourselves somewhere other than where we are today. That remarkable ability to picture something that hasn’t happened yet can bring as much joy and satisfaction as having already achieved it, sometimes more. Our minds can create visions that instantly push us into action. So what does a vision need to be truly powerful?

One cornerstone is how well it fits with purpose. Whether we’re thinking about a company, an organization or our personal lives, a vision has to come from the essence of who we are, from our answer to why we’re here on this earth. When it does, any path we take will move us quickly toward it.

The next pillar I consider important is values. We all hold a set of values that, when we live them, "make us better," as Dr. Mario Alonso Puig would say. When values are in tune with a powerful vision and a clear purpose, they become the key indicators of our direction. The more closely we stick to them, the better and sounder our decisions will be.

Another powerful element of a vision is the value it shares: everything it gives, along the way, to the people who choose to come on board and help build it. A vision whose results serve many interests carries, at its core, what it takes to inspire action and make people want to share the journey. That’s why the best examples of leadership come from a powerful ability to convey a message announcing a turn that many people want to be part of.

Finally, purpose is the cornerstone of any vision. It is and always will be the essence of everything we want to achieve in life. To act well, we need to keep our values in mind, and as we work toward that vision, we need to share value in every way we can.
