3 Tools to Start the Week Energized and Discover Your Mission – ElPropósito3 min de lectura

What gives life meaning and balance? How do you find them and keep them? Read on to start asking yourself these questions and enjoy the journey

Life purpose is a powerful tool we all carry inside. Once we discover it, it gains meaning as we test our choices against it and start saying "yes" to what brings us closer to it and "no" to what pulls us away.

At any age, discovering "what am I in this world for," "what is my life purpose," "what is my mission (like a company’s)" helps us, among other things, make decisions, direct our efforts, save and invest energy in what’s truly worth it, motivate ourselves, find real fulfillment in what we achieve and, for me the ultimate goal, gain balance in every area of our life.

Here are three tools to start this week with plenty of energy, find inspiration and begin discovering the beautiful path of life’s meaning:

Book of the week: Man’s Search for Meaning, by psychiatrist Viktor Frankl. A book I’ve always recommended. It shows how even in the worst conditions, what no one can take from a human being is the power to choose. Once we’ve chosen how to face a situation, we’ll have found a reason to live and the way to live

Articles of the week:

  • The world’s oldest barber. A New York Times article about a 107-year-old barber who still works full time. Asked why, he says it "keeps him busy and optimistic…"
  • The power and value of hobbies. An HBR article on why leaders make time for hobbies in their "already packed schedules" and how they feel it helps their performance. Full of information that will make you value having a hobby. One line struck a chord because I feel it when I fly, especially in this hyperconnected world: "One of the things I love about flying is that, to fly safely, you really don’t have the luxury of thinking about anything else"

Video of the week: Las ventajas de salir de la zona de confort (The Benefits of Leaving Your Comfort Zone), by Dr. Mario Alonso Puig. "I’ve been doing the same thing for so many years, if I tried something new… no, no, no, no, better to stay as I am, because I know what to expect, because I always control what’s in my path…"

Quote of the week:

"Success fills the senses, happiness fills the heart." Mario Alonso Puig

Do you know your life purpose? Would you like to find it? What are you reading or watching that you’d recommend to me?

A hug and have the best week of your life,
